First, I want to apologize for the blogging hiatus. I don’t know what happened. Well, no, that’s not entirely true. A lot has happened. And that means that blogging had to take a back seat for a bit. But the important thing is that I’m back and here to brief you on all that has gone on in the past month since I last touched base.
So on June 8th, Team Perfect Strangers found themselves in the fields of Madison, Wisconsin ready to embark on Ragnar Relay Chicago. A team of 12, split up into 2 vans, each running a total of 3 legs, nonstop, day and night, for a total of 200 miles, eventually landing us on the beaches of Chicago. I mean, literally the craziest thing I have ever done in my life. Not only physically challenging given that I was still coming off injury, but the most emotionally and mentally draining experience ever. I think one of the main reasons I haven’t blogged is that I have been dreading writing this race recap. I’ve honestly tried, but I just cannot bring myself finish. So instead, I’m providing you with a nice little picture summary and links to my teammates amazing posts. PLEASE read them all. Honestly. It was an unreal 34.5 hours and each of us have a totally different spin on it. Ready, go!

See! There’s so many holes in that picture story that you have to click the links. Gotcha 🙂
& that aforementioned music video? Here it is. Call us, maybe?
After our whirlwind weekend, I transitioned right into vacation mode. The hubs and I dropped off the pup and headed to Northern Michigan for a wonderful week of relaxation. Mom and Dad also joined us for a few days. I just love it up there. Peaceful. Beautiful. Serene. The site of our nuptials. My absolute favorite place. So much fun was had. I want to go back already.
Since that week of pure bliss, I’ve been back at work, slaving away, all while trying to get back into marathon training mode. Yes, friends. I am once again registered for the Chicago Marathon this upcoming fall! I signed up eons ago, otherwise known as February. But it was one of those things I couldn’t let pass, as hard as I tried. It was such an amazing experience last year and given the fact that I had to pull out of my spring marathon, I definitely still feel like I have something to prove. Having said that, I’ve been VERY leery about ramping up my distance too fast since coming off injury. So this time I’m being smart about my training. A couple long-ish runs during the week and a time-based running system on the weekends. I’m also crosstraining (or trying to) and sticking with my physical therapist, Bob, who makes everything feel better. Tomorrow is my first go at a double digit run since the Mini two months ago. Wish me luck!
Besides traveling and running, I’ve just honest to goodness been enjoying my summer days,,,
I’ve been to two concerts in the past few weeks.
I’ve been spending lots of time poolside trying to beat the oppressive midwestern heat.
And lots of other random stuff!
So, since I’m (finally) back, I plan on staying back. Promise. Keep on the lookout for more of me and all of my happenings, because there are certainly some exciting things on the horizon! I promise again 😉
