This year’s SPD has certainly panned out differently from those in the years past (2011 and 2012 recaps here and here). Being pregnant = no green beer for this little lady. But far be it for me to let this little peanut prevent me from celebrating one of my favorite holidays!
I started my Saturday with a trip down to Carmel to meet up with the Perfect Strangers for lunch at Detour. You may recall a similar trip last year when a smaller group of PS’ers spent the same day at the same restaurant. The only difference this year was the weather was about 50 degrees cooler. 3/16/2012 was truly one of my favorite days since moving to the Hoosier state.
Yesterday, most of the girls had ran a shamrock race of some sort so the outing was more of a post-run celebration. But it was nice to spend the day together in some capacity, making it our 2nd annual Perfect Stranger tradition. I had missed my girls so much and catching up was everything I needed to fill my [already full] belly. Beer, pshhh 😉 Lemonade is where it’s at!
I got back home around 4p and after a quick outfit change, the hubs and I were back on the road south within an hour. No rest for the preggo!
We had dinner plans with some friends at Harry & Izzy’s on the northside at 745p. But since my MSU Spartans were playing in the Big Ten Tournament, we decided to go down a bit early and watch the second half. Despite the poor outcome of the game, we had tons of fun “pre-partying.” We were also pretty pumped that we scored a high-top in the bar before the throngs of diners came floating in! The hubs had a couple beers while I enjoyed my ice cold H20, glass after glass. A little while later, out of nowhere, our waitress came over and plopped a brownie sundae down in front of me. I was confused so I said, “What is this for?!” To which she replied with a smile, “It’s because you can’t have beer.” 🙂 To say I was thrilled was the understatement of the year. I ate the H out of that sundae, sharing only a few bites with my baby daddy.
A while later, our friends Rob and Amanda arrived and the rest of the night was a blast. Made even better by the wonderful service and the amazing food! I love date nights and hope they continue before and after baby.
Today has been spent resting, snacking, dog walking and blogging. And of course, enjoying my final shamrock shake of the season. What would SPD be without one?!
Oh, and I MUST share the latest from my friend, Kelly. Apparently during a crafting spree a few weeks ago, her daughter Izzy designed this BEAUTIFUL picture especially for my future baby. Apparently she’s pretty certain there’s a boy on the way! 😀 Thanks Iz!!
