Morning ya’ll! Happy Weekend!
Thought I’d give you a baby update since it’s been about 5 weeks since my last.
As of today, Baby C is officially at the tail end of his/her 25th week!
According to The Bump, baby is nearly the size of a cauliflower, measuring 13.6 to 14.8 inches and weighing anywhere from 1.5 – 2.5 lbs!
This week the baby’s nervous system is developing rapidly and can sense which way is up and which is down. Hair is growing too! Which must be the reason for mom’s increased need for Tums this week – or is that still an old wives tale?
Overall, I’ve been feeling well. My activity level has sadly tanked and exercise has basically been non-existent. After working all day and being up on my feet, the last thing I have the energy for at night is a workout. Plus my ankles are proving that swelling and water retention is the real deal. I’m okay with a little hiatus, but now that the spring temps are finally emerging, I’m finding myself craving a springtime run like the old days. I’m thinking a walk will have to suffice.
This week I haven’t been super productive besides work and sitting in while our dryer was getting fixed. But I did make it down to Indy on Thursday for our monthly Perfect Strangers dinner. I made reservations at Harry & Izzy’s (I should become a regular!) and a whopping NINE of us were able to come! An amazing time as usual with tons of laughter. We all giggled when the discussion of gender reveal (or our lack thereof) came to the table. We all decided, who needs stupid amounts of pink and/ or blue at a shower? Just buy us what we’re registered for and the gender specific gifts can come later 😉
Speaking of baby showers, Mom and I made some major planning progress on my Michigan baby shower this past weekend. Our theme shall remain quiet for now, but know that we took care of ordering a bunch of different favors, deciding on meals/ treats, and finally ordering our invitations! So excited! I’m also being thrown a shower by my mother-in-law and my Perfect Strangers in June. It’s going to be quite the month. Hopefully the bean stays put til July with all that excitement!
Since the hubs and I are heading back down to Indy today for various housey things, I plan on making a pit stop at Babies “R” Us to work on our registry a little more. It’s time to hammer down the big items (i.e. pack n’ play, stroller, car seat, etc). I think I know what I’m going to get, but still have a lot of questions. Mamas: Is there anything you couldn’t live without that I should put on my registry??
All in all I’m feeling great! Sleeping is uncomfortable at times, but tolerable (thanks Snoogle!). The bump is ever present but thankfully I’ve got great mama-gear to keep it covered. And the movement I’m feeling lately is VERY hard to ignore ~ in an amazing way! I wish I could videotape the visible belly action I’m witnessing but the old iPhone doesn’t pick up on such things so well. Guess you’ll just have to feel it and see it yourself! It’s pretty impressive. I may have a tiny dancer on my hands.
Week 26 is my next appointment/ glucose tolerance test and week 27 is the start of our BABYMOON!! Sanibel Island, here we come!! 😀
