When I found out that I would be having FOUR baby showers in the span of one month, I was slightly overwhelmed. But as I’ve been doing for the majority of my pregnancy, I went with the flow. And to say that the husband, Baby C and I have been blessed during these past 9 months is an understatement. Now that they have finally come to an end, I can give ya’ll a full recap!

Baby C Showerpalooza kicked off on May 14th with a casual meetup with some of my work ladies. It was a small affair with guests Nadia, Raya, Lisa, Traci, Diana and Quadrea. We met at Kacy J’s in Muncie and enjoyed wonderful conversation over dinner. Our big gift of the night was our video baby monitor (thanks to everyone from the hospitalist department!). We also had amazing lemon/ raspberry cupcakes made by Traci and Patti and giggled endlessly over the antics of Miss Raya. It was a great start to shower season and definitely left me wanting MORE!
Next up was our shower hosted by my mother-in-law, Katie, and sister-in-law, Heather, on June 1st. The hubs, Allie and I traveled up to northern Indiana on Saturday morning where we met at his Grandpa’s house for the shower festivities. This was a bigger shower than the last, and I have to say, I was a bit nervous for what was to come. Especially when I saw the influx of people! Once everyone arrived, however, I calmed down substantially. It was just nice to see so many faces I hadn’t seen in awhile – many since our wedding almost 5 years ago! Plus my Mom and cousin Samantha both traveled all the way down from Michigan to attend! After we all got settled, we had a great lunch of sandwiches, salads, and cake prepared by Dot, Aunt Judy and Katie. We then played a few games: button BINGO and ‘Guess the Pregnant Celebrity Couple.’ Too fun! Our starter family even made the board 😉 Afterwards, the spotlight turned to the hubs and I as we sat and opened all of our gifts. Wow, how lucky this baby is! From beautiful blankets, to sweet sleepers, we were once again overwhelmed at everyone’s generosity. After a little more socializing, we packed up the car and headed home where Mom and I did our first loads of baby laundry (LOVE DREFT!) and got the nursery organization in motion!
Our third shower was hosted by my Mom/ Gima-to-be in the mitten on June 9th. We made a late night drive up to Michigan Thursday night to prepare for the weekend events. There was lots of shopping, nails, and baby face cookie baking by the girls. And amongst other things, the boys spent their fair share of time on the golf course. My Mom had literally spent months getting everything organized for this big day so she had more nerves than I did this time around. But come shower day, everything fell into place. We had approximately 40 ladies that attended and the room at The Iroquois Club was oh-so full of love. I honestly haven’t felt that beautiful in a long time. After the meet-and-greets, we sat down and enjoyed lunch: tomato bisque with grilled cheese bites (YUM), spinach salad with fruit/ grilled chicken and raspberry vinaigrette, and last but not least,, CAKE! (there has been no shortage of sweets during Showerpalooza). After the grub, it was time for gifts! Let’s see,, we got our carseat, tons of clothes/ blankets, a fabulous Coach diaper bag, unbelievably sweet talking stuffed animals (one of which made me cry), and all THREE of our strollers! Oh, and of course, a must-have for this family,,,
Everything was absolutely perfect and I’m still having a hard time even putting the experience into words. After I get my official cloverwill pictures back, I’ll let them do the talking 🙂
And finally, number four! Last night we spent the evening in Carmel for the first ever Perfect Strangers baby shower hosted by our good friends Jaime and Jeremy. A good portion of my running girls and their men came to celebrate over BBQ and beers. Though it was technically a couples shower, there was a clear separation of girls and guys, which was fine by us! Since we’re not in official marathon training mode (some more far out than others), we were content on just catching up. We had TONS of laughs just standing around in the kitchen. And though I’d love to share the details about what we laughed about, I’ll spare you cause they’re mostly inside jokes. I will let you know that we tentatively name our unborn child Connie, so there’s that 😉 Some of our gifts included another base for our carseat, an Ergobaby carrier, an emergency baby care kit, bath goodies, and our Boppy! Baby Bop certainly felt the love 🙂
As you can clearly see, it’s been a wonderful month o’ showers. Having said that, I’m so excited to take a break from all the activity. We feel so blessed to have so many baby items that we/ I can now clean, store, and organize the way I’ve always envisioned. It’s hard to believe that in 4 short weeks, we will be bringing our little one home with us. Hopefully healthy and happy. Thank you to EVERYONE who has sent their love to Baby C in one way or another in the last few months. We sure are lucky!! 🙂
