Ohhh my. I’ve done it again. I’ve abandoned my sweet blog for way too long. Maybe that’s why she’s been so cranky? 😉 Well anyway, it’s 2015 now, so let’s get this party re-started!!
Before I jump feet-first into January, let’s revisit December for a hot sec. We had a great time celebrating all sorts of stuff around the holidays! Last year was a bit of a wash because of us moving a few days after Christmas. So this year I took full liberty in celebrating with lots of sparkle. Here are some bulletpoints of our month!
Our family’s first ugly sweater Christmas party in Bloomington!
Here we come a-cocktailing ornament exchange with the Perfect Strangers!
E’s second visit with Santa Claus didn’t go as smoothly as his first. Still quite a bit of stranger danger.
Since this was our first Christmas in our new house, the hubs and I decided to stay in Indy and enjoy Christmas morning at home, saving the traveling for later. It was wonderful in every way. We spent Christmas Eve with friends at their home and Emery went to his first Christmas mass.
Christmas morning was a lazy one spent in our jams by the fire. Emery woke up with a bit of a cold, which was a bummer. & he still wasn’t really into the whole act of opening his presents this year. But he definitely enjoyed playing with each one as they were revealed. He got a new train set, a Rody bouncing horse, and lots of puzzles from Santa. Daddy also got him some classic Looney Tunes DVDs and the two did some super snuggling over Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd. I made slow cooker roast for dinner and we enjoyed the evening with our friends.
Traveling resumed the day after Christmas, first to the hubs’ family in N. Indiana then onto my family in Michigan. We were oh-so-spoiled by everyone and had a very full car on the ride home.
We said goodbye to 2014 at our dear friend’s home, where we had dinner, a dance party and a make-shift ball drop for the kiddos around 730p. Thanks for the live Times Square broadcast, YouTube 😉
The New Year has been good to us so far. We’ve had some cold days, some snow, some ice. We’ve gotten cabin fever at times, but done pretty good at getting out of the house everyday. We’ve had sledding parties with our friends. I’ve gotten in some exercise here and there, though most of it has been from lugging around my 30+ pound son. I’m itching to run again but can’t bring myself to bundle up and get out there. But such is January. Though my spring fever kicks into high gear around this time each year, I try my best to enjoy each season as it comes. The pool will be open before we know it.
I’ve never been too into New Year’s resolutions but this year I’ve decided to give one a try. I’ve challenged myself to read 52 books throughout the course of the year. One per week. I started my first book during our holiday travels which kickstarted my challenge And as of today, I’m on #5. Pretty impressive for me! I’m not a huge reader anymore (sad face) so this is an exciting challenge. It’s already helped me get away from the mindless iPhone surfing, for that I am so grateful. I’ve received TONS of book recommendations via my Facebook friends, all of which have helped my selections so far. If you’re so inclined to follow my progress, check out my Goodreads page HERE or my new #52in52 widget to your right.
My little dude is going to be 18 months tomorrow. I promise a quarterly update soon 😉
Til next time. Not so long I swear.
How has the new year treated you so far??
