Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! It certainly was a memorable one for our family!
I’ll start my recap off on Thursday night with Athletic Annex BrewMile #2! After a day spent at home cleaning out my closet, I was itching to get out and sweat a lil. And drink a lil, let’s be honest 😉 Angela and Dominic met us at Bent Rail Brewery in Broad Ripple at 6p, and the boys did a little spelunking while us moms got registered.
Angela told me she was going to walk the mile, to which I informed her otherwise. One mile, girl! Let’s do it!
I think we made it maybe a quarter mile before Big D started making it known that he wasn’t a fan of the speed at which we were moving (not THAT fast btw). So to avoid breakdown, we changed over to a brisk walk. I told the boys that once we got back on the Monon, they could run down to the finish line. They were so excited. Things started off great,,,
Check out the stride on my boy!!
Sadly, right after the above pic was taken, Dom tripped, taking E down in the process, leading to lots of tears and road rash. No one was hurt, just some bruised egos. Needless to say, our mile run turned into a bit of a flop. But our 22 minutes was well spent 😉 We turned things around with a little choo-choo photo shoot after our tasty dinner.
Friday we did a lot of weekend prep, including trips to CostCo and Michael’s. Mama did some more cleaning and baking, and E enjoyed breaking in his new Cars Crocs.
Saturday morning was the annual Sagamore 4th of July Parade. Last year I was annoyed because right after I put Emery down for his morning nap, the firetruck went down our street, waking him right up. Well this year, we are off the 2-nap-a-day schedule so we joined in the festivities instead! Lil man can’t pass up the chance to see a firetruck! “Wheeee-oooooooooooooo.”
Ready to ride! (he’s got his cheese face down)
Modeling his festive wheels.
Our best friends agreed to hang out with us for the day, so one by one they arrived and hopped in the wagon!
They all loved the parade. All the kids were so festive with their reds, whites, and blues. But I’ve gotta say, we had the cutest crew, right? I can’t get over E’s sunglasses- and the fact that he keeps them on!!
Once the parade was over, we got a watermelon snow cone and made our way back to the house. At Michael’s the day before, we picked up some goodies for necklace/bracelet making as well as Gak (remember that stuff, 90’s kids??). God love Pinterest! Our friend Erica came by with hot dogs just before noon, which we grilled and ate up immediately. Once we could tell there was some fatigue setting in, we put the kiddos down for naps while the mamas retreated to the back porch for our first bevs of the holiday and a sweet treat (thanks for the amazing recipe, Courtney!)
We got a solid 2-ish hours of quiet time before the kiddos reemerged with a renewed blast of energy. We kept them busy with snacks, corn hole, and sprinklers! All the fun things.
The Dads, who had been golfing most of the day, returned just after 5p right before dinner was served. BBQ beef, pasta salad, shrimp cocktail, and more. And don’t forget the beers 🙂
Yes, E went shirtless most of the day <3
More corn hole and kid-friendly fireworks took place in the backyard, with snuggles/ tackles from the littles.
A little later we moved things to the front yard so we could set off the “bigger” fireworks in the street and save our lawn. It was a picture perfect evening with a gorgeous sunset. And the kids were purely amazed at the “fire!!” In Fiona’s words, “There’s just so much to see!!”
Happy 4th of July!!
And finally, Sunday. Phew! After a slow morning full of cleaning the house inside and out, this girl went out for a much needed mani/ pedi. Then it was time for our final weekend activity: Emery’s first Indy Indians baseball game! Yet another beautiful summer night full of friends and food,, namely Gatorade + corn dogs 🙂
ps,, time for a haircut? I’m kind of loving the wave/ flip/ surfer boy look myself.
This weekend. This holiday. These people. I couldn’t have asked for more. Hope yours was just as wonderful!
