So I thought I should do my due diligence and give a lil recap of all things pregnancy that have been happening over the past 23 weeks! Yep, I’m already over halfway to meeting our little nugget. The weeks have been going by fast, yet slow at the same time, to which all pregnant mamas can relate I’m sure. During my last pregnancy I was working full time, and this time I’m still full time,, but a mama to a 29-month old! Lil different. I kept a few notes early on after we found out, so time to share!
7/30/15: I’m 4 days late, so I wake up with butterflies at 6a and take a test before my morning workout. +++++!!!! I proceed with my workout and when the hubs comes to say bye as he leaves for work, I spill the beans.
7/31/15: As we arrive in Mackinaw City for the wedding of my cousin Sarah, I “passed” on a drink,, which sends my parents into a quizzical frenzy 🙂 The news quickly slips out and I work HARD to hide my lack of drinking for the remainder of the weekend.
8/6/15: Weekend road trip to Nashville with the Perfect Strangers. Break the news to my car-mates on the way down that I didn’t bring any booze because I can’t drink any anyway 😉 Still had tons of fun playing spectator to all sorts of honky tonk debauchery!
8/16/15: 6w 6d. Feeling pretty good. Fatigue has been major symptom so far and have been relishing in taking naps while E sleeps. The sad part is that insomnia is happening already, along with nighttime pee breaks. I’ve had a tiny bit of queasiness in the mornings the last few days but no vomiting. Please god let that sickness stay away as long as possible! Workout out daily still and feeling like I can stay much more active than I did last time around!
8/28/15: 8w 4d. Pretty much nauseated all day. Surviving on oyster crackers and Lemonheads. Haven’t worked out in over a week besides a few walks. Still very much fatigued. But today is Dr. day!! Can’t wait to see my little bean (or is it beanS??!).
Addendum: bean looks perfect. HR 175!
9/1/15: 9w 2d. When you get all the way to Target (while nauseated and hormonal) to get a slushie/ juice for you and your toddler and some other goods, only to realize you grabbed the purse that doesn’t have your wallet inside. I may have cried.
9/4/15: 9w 5d. Feeling decent. Still tired. Taking B6 daily to ward off nausea. Still no vomiting. Sleep is meh. Get hot most nights. Back on the exercise train and working out every morning this week! Looking forward to holiday weekend and 10w on Monday!
9/10/15: 10w 4d. Yay, feeling pretty good! Still working out in the morning, though keeping it mostly low impact. Eating a bit better but still with snack cravings all the time. Hello candy! Belly has no real form yet, just a nice pouch 😉
9/15/15: 11w 2d. Blah!! Thought I would be somewhat healthy and have a smoothie during nap time. Umm, I either gulped it too fast or some part of it was bad bc I spent the next 4 hours miserable. Finally was able to stomach some Vernors and ramen. Yuck. Go away nausea!!
9/24/15: 12w 3d. Nausea basically gone. Running 3 days a week with improvements. Latest development,, headaches!!
And that’s where the notes stop. Overall, with the exception of a few weeks of nausea (no vomiting) and fatigue, the first trimester wasn’t all that bad. Some breakouts. A few terrible headaches. But pretty good! However, based on my last pregnancy, I was prepared that things may get worse in the second tri. Thankfully, that never happened, and I have truly been feeling really great ever since. I ran a half marathon at 16 weeks with the okay from my OB (recap STILL to come) and I have been keeping up with my workouts (which give me a great boost of energy for the day).
I’ve also been keeping track of my growing bump on my phone app. Pretty sure things got much bigger much earlier this time around (normal!) and I had no hesitation busting out my maternity clothes at the first sign of tightness. Or just hung out in my “activewear” 🙂
(ps,, excuse the grainy iPhone photos.)
We had our 20 week ultrasound a few weeks back, and long before that decided that we were once again going to be Team Green – no finding out the sex until baby is born! It was SUCH an amazing surprise the last time, so we didn’t hesitate to stick with the decision to do it again this time. Though I’m not going to lie, there was a teeny part of me that wanted to find out as I laid on the ultrasound table. I mean, I have SO many boy clothes! And a little preparation would be nice. But I had to remind myself that I also have a ton of neutral stuff that I can’t wait to use again. And honestly,, who cares what we have?! As long as he/she is healthy, that’s truly all that matters to us.
A lot of people have asked me if Emery understands what’s happening, and my answer is usually “as much as he can!” When I ask him where the baby is, he points to my belly, and vice versa (point to belly, says baby). But honestly, can a toddler really comprehend the fact that another baby is going to be coming home in a few months? Doubtful. But it’s cute to see him naively understand 😉
And that’s about all for the first 1.5 trimesters! I’m running the Santa Hustle 5k this weekend with the hubs and my Dad, which should be fun. And the holidays are right around the corner, yay! I just love this time of year. Especially having a tot and a bump to share it with.
A little side note, my computer took a crash after I got home from Thanksgiving break, so my posts are likely to be sporadic until I can replace/ fix my good ol’ MacBook. But I’ll be back, hopefully sooner than later! Happy weekend!
