Two months down, little man!
This month you started developing quite the personality! From coos to smiles to borderline giggles, you’re certainly making noise. Not all noise has been good noise, unfortunately, as you’ve definitely shown your fussy side too. Sometimes to the point of concern- do you have colic? Reflux? Thankfully, like most things, these things seem to pass just as quickly as they start. You live in a land of phases. Just when you think something is here to stay,, it changes! So overall, we think you are just a normal baby that likes to fuss 😉
We recently busted out your big brother’s play mat for you to lay under, and you’ve really taken to it. You especially like kicking the noisy leaves and staring at yourself in the mirror. Now you can see all the handsomeness we’ve been seeing!
You’ve become very hand-sy, and love to grab at things. Mostly our fingers and Mama’s shirt. You can’t quite hold things on your own yet, but that’s coming soon. You’ve also found your fist, and love sucking on it, especially during tummy time. Mama wonders if you’ll be a thumb sucker someday??
Speaking of tummy time, it is going pretty well! You don’t love it or hate it,, you just tolerate it. But you DID have your first roll from belly to back on 5/16, yay!! I haven’t caught it on camera yet but I hope to soon!
We took another family trip to Michigan this month (your 2nd!) – Daddy went on a golf trip with GPop so you mainly hung out with your brother, Mama & Gigi. You weren’t quite as perfect on the ride up, making some pitiful cries prompting Mama to jump in the backseat with you. Thankfully you showed your appreciation by giving her some big ol’ smiles – one of my FAVORITE developments of yours this month!!
Here are some more of those gummy grins we love so much!
During our trip, we did some shopping, went to Lego Land, and made your first trip to the Detroit Zoo! Overall it was a nice visit that you seemed to enjoy very much, which is good because there are tons more where that came from!
Since Memorial Day, we have been spending lots of time outside at the clubhouse pool! You haven’t officially gone swimming yet, rather you spend most of your time sleeping poolside while Mama supervises your older brother. Could be worse things!
You certainly love the fresh air!
Your sleep habits are pretty stellar, bud! Your wakeup time is usually around 630a, with a nap to follow generally an hour or two later. You’re still sleeping most of the day, with about 1-2 hours of awake time in between. Bedtime has been anywhere between 8-10p. You’re still snug as a bug in your cradle next to Mama & Daddy’s bed. Your favorite place to nap is in someone’s arms, but Mama is trying to get you accustomed to your crib. So far you’ve had about one successful 30 min nap in there 😉
Nursing is also going much better this month. Your mama had a mild bout of mastitis early in the month, which put her on 10 days of antibiotics. However, thanks to the meds, her infection cleared quickly, as well as the tears that had been causing most of her discomfort. So things in the feeding department have MUCH improved (thank goodness!). You eat pretty much every 2 hours during the day with longer stretches at night.
Physically you’ve been growing like a little weed! Your 2 month stats are,,
- Weight: 11 lbs (from 8lbs 14oz!), 13%
- Height: 23.25 in, 51%
- Head Circumference: 15.75 in, 70%
One not-so-fun thing this month from a physical standpoint was your poor little “pepperoni” face. Your big brother went through the same thing, just to a lesser degree. It started with flakes, then before you know it, it was pimple time. I actually used some cortisone on your face a few times (which your ped recommended) because I was concerned over some yellowing of your skin. As expected, it has almost completely cleared up and your angel face has returned, thank goodness. Mama doesn’t like that kind of stuff!
Things You Like:
- Kicking (see above video!)
- Being in motion (car, rocking)
- Your pac – well, you are taking it more than before. Still a little suspect.
- Your brother!
Things You Don’t Like:
- Spitting up
- Dirty dipes
Last month you looked a little something like this,,
& now at 2 months!
Happy 2 months, Vaughn Richard! You’re the sweetest!
