First things first. Call me Briana, Bri, B, Brums or Mama. I respond to all. Just do me a favor,, don’t call me ‘Ma’am.’
I’m a 30-something Indiana transplant originally from southeastern Michigan. I am the oldest of three and hail from two amazing parents. We are all perfectly scattered across the Midwest though we come together at all the right moments. I’m happily married to my husband of six years and we are the proud parents of our son, Emery, and our fur baby, Allie. I love writing about my family and all of our crazy fun experiences together, because God knows there are a lot of them.
Now, given the title of my blog, you may expect to find a lot of nursing stories. And yes, there are some. I graduated in 2008 with my family nurse practitioner degree and practiced for 5 years in everything from acute care hospital medicine to orthopedic spine surgery. However, in July 2013, I bravely stepped away from my career in order to do something I’ve wanted to do more than nursing,, stay at home and raise our son. You can read about my big decision here, but I’ll share a little secret,,, it was the best one ever. Mommyhood has redefined who I am to the core, which you’ll read about plenty here. But even despite my current “career,” nursing will always be something near and dear to my heart. But as of this moment, it’s not number one. However, just because I’m not NP-ing, doesn’t mean I’m not playing nurse in many other areas of my life.
Another of my passions is running. I ran my first half marathon in 2009 and am now well into the double digits, with two full marathons under my belt as well. Since having a baby, my running has taken a bit of a backseat, but I will always call myself a runner. Running provides me with the clarity needed to get through the day to day. Under the Fitness page, you can find recaps of all my past races, as well as keep up with my current fitness crazes.
As for the rest of my blog, I promise nothing. Though I enjoy a bit of structure, I also embrace the random,, the unexpected,, and the surprises. So sit back, catch up, comment and enjoy. & thanks for visiting 😉
